Even though it’s not to be released until sometime in early in 2016, SRAM’s new Red eTap may be had sooner than expected. Pinarello is jumping ahead of the game to offer SRAM’s highly anticipated wireless eTap system on their new Dogma F8w well before the groupset is available.

Jump past the break for the details and pics of Pinarello’s new superbike…..

Starting in January, Pinarello will release a limited number of the Dogma F8w with SRAM’s new Red eTap groupset. This gives those that have to have it now a chance to be the first kid on the block with the first of its kind components on a bike that will get as many looks.

We saw Pinarello’s 8th generation Dogma F8 last year and though more subdued than the previous version it is actually more aero as well as stiffer where it needs to be. The Dogma’s F8w frame uses Toray T1000 1k Dream Carbon with Nanoalloy Technology. They claim the frame is 120g lighter while being 12% stiffer and a 54cm frame is said to weigh 860g. Adding to that, the new Onda F8 fork is 54% more aero and 10% lighter than the Wave 2 fork it replaces.

We had a thorough look and experience with SRAM’s Red eTap back in August, and came away addicted impressed by its performance and ease of use.

Fausto Pinarello stated:

“I’ve been trying the new SRAM RED eTap on my Dogma since a long time; I’m really impressed by the performance of this product. I am sure that it will be perfect on our bikes”.

The limited edition Dogma F8W will be produced in their exclusive color, 896 Red White F8W and in addition to SRAM’s Red eTap, the F8w will be equiped with Zipp 303 Firecrest carbon clincher wheels, Most Tiger Aero 3K stem and handlebar.

MSRP is $11,500

The new Pinarello frames was made under the Think3 philosophy, or in other words, designed to adapt perfectly to either mechanical or wired, or wireless groupsets.

This is all thanks an new innovative system of adaptors that allow for perfect integration and internal cable routing for all systems.

Beautiful bike. But they need to reprimand the person who assembled it. All that money in pro photography and the labels on the tires are not lined up with the valves. That’s sloppy. It’s hard to find good mechanics in the bike industry….

Tour de France 2019, all teams have taken to wireless shifting. Come the first sprint, a man with a signal jammer stands at the 200m to go mark. No one survives.

@Axel, At least almost anyone can align the tyres correctly, but Pinarello should have sprayed or mo(u)lded the cable hole bungs in matching red!

@Axel
Hahaha…odd that the tire and valve are lined up on the front wheel but not the back…

The “floating bike” drop shadow is pure cheeze.

I feel jaded about Pinarello bikes after the sweeping rush of Chinarellos making them 10x more common everywhere.

I couldn’t force myself to buy one, and there are many I like.

@Milessio, the chances are the covers are a rubber or silicone based compound and you can’t spray those materials. They could have tried to colour the compound but the chances of that ending up looking naff would have been pretty high.

Has SRAM worked out simultaneous shifting with eTap yet? IOW, when you shift into the big ring, does that shift have to complete before you can shift into larger cogs in the back to compensate?

I am really upset that this frame still has down-tube covers for cable routing… An exclusive color and limited run, and we couldn’t spare a top layer of carbon to cover that flush and paint matched?!

Also, from that second picture, it looks like pretty tight clearance between that eTap FD battery and the rear tire.

Digging the stem without the pinch bolts in the back. Looks like there are set screws that push (via some kind of shim?) against the back of the steerer tube.

Small people (this includes, of course, YHC) wait a bit before buying new technology.

Uh, I mean smart people (this includes, of course, YHC) wait a bit before buying new technology.

What happened to the disc brake r(e)volution? Looks like a failed attempt at putting together the latest technology and miss disc brakes…

@John 3:02PM, yes SRAM has addressed this. Start by holding down the left lever paddle to shift the RD from right (hard) to left (easy), simply tap the right lever paddle (while still holding the left) when you want to change the FD position. I personally performed this move multiple times on the demo set-up at the Inter Bike SRAM booth. Seems like it should work just fine for those worried about this.

That is a great looking bike. I like that SRAM have gone all black with the crankset.

I dig that stem. Judging by the oversized diameter of the stem and spacers, I’m guessing they use a conical shim inside to pinch it in place, somehow.

Fail. Let’s see a dedicated wireless bike, no ports, no guides. Just a clean elegant frame.

dont forget etap doesnt let you use mig cage derailleurs yet, and that its using a frame with holes for wires (albeit its going to be that way for a while i guess since Di2 is wired)

looks cool though! now to win the lottery

So this is a limited edition bike where they have simply used the off the peg frameset but with a different paint job?
For my limited edition money, I would want the cable covers in-filled so it looks like the designers had actually done more than bang a new group on an existing frame.
