While Scott Week is coming up and will give us our first chance to rip around on all their new 2016 bikes, we’ve had plenty of exposure to them. They’ve formally announced the new FOIL aero road race bike, the 27.5+ versions of the Scale and Genius full suspension mountain bikes (plus the Scale hardtail plus bike) and even the new Addict Gravel racer, which is essentially a re-spec’d version of the all-new Addict CX cyclocross bike they showed off at Sea Otter.

Here, we have actual weights of all of the above, plus a new electric pedal assist version of the Genius. Above is the FOIL, which comes in at 6.98kg (15.39lb) with tubes, a condition it’ll likely keep since Zipp isn’t yet making road tubeless carbon rims. See what it adds by throwing a mini-pump, water bottle cages and stocked saddle bag on it…

Equipped for a full day out on the road it’s up to 7.4kg (16.31lb).

The Addict CX with SRAM Force 1 and DT Swiss RC38C wheels and Schwalbe tires with a carbon Syncros cockpit is 7.59kg (16.73lb). It’d be lighter once setup tubeless, though.

The Scale 710 hardtail, which is the higher end of the two plus-sized hardtails offered, comes in at 11.54kg (25.44lb) with a SRAM 1×11 drivetrain. Official spec is a GX1 crankset, not the X0 on this demo bike.

The Genius 700 Tuned Plus is the top model for the U.S. and comes in at 12.2kg (26.9lb).

The longer travel Genius LT Plus is available in the rest of the world (not the U.S.) and comes in at 12.7kg (27.99lb).

The e-Genius with Bosch motor tips the scales at a hefty 21.67kg (47.77lb), but you probably won’t even notice it on the uphills.

“Equipped for a full day out on the road it’s up to 7.4kg (16.31lb).”

Pedals optional for full days out on the road. At least the mini pump is included.

For a full day out on the road, you might need pedals

I was thinking bottles too, but definitely pedals unless the bike is powered by hopes and dreams.

Just for comparison, my XL Focus Mares 00 is 7.0kg with egg beater 11’s, tubes and 35c. Same wheels and force cx1. The Scott is pretty close!

I wish someone would make a full suspension mountain bike with E-steering. I can handle the pedaling part of mountain biking pretty easily. Its the aggressive, loose terrain turning that I can’t handle

It is very common for bike makers to leave off the pedals, because a huge portion of riders do a mental “okay and then put my favorite pedals on it” thing.

Seriously. I don’t know why that is being made fun of. Bike ads everywhere, very few pedals. Not new.

Because for

“… a full day out on the road …”

there need to be some sort of pedals on it?

I don’t think people are making fun f the bike, it’s weight or the fact it doesn’t come with pedals. just the ready for a full day on the road without these things included claim.

@Drew
Because they put accessories on it then weighed it, accessories that can vary a lot by weight depending on the specific accessories used, instead of putting a component that makes a bike usable on it and then weighing it.

People are making fun of the fact that they weighed it with a saddlebag and a pump and cages, but without pedals. Not the fact that they weighed it bare bones without pedals.

And: a pump, on an aero bike? Seriously?

The new Foil looks very much alike the Canyon Aeroad. I guess it’s the design trend for all these new aero bikes.

I wonder why the Genius LT is available in the rest of the world, but not the US?
