Giro’s New Road collection started bridging the gap between pure roadie spandex and something more coffee shop appropriate. And Levis, Outlier, Makers & Riders, Beta Brand, Bluffworks and more have introduced office-ready garments that work as well on the bike as off.

But you know bicycle commuting has started it’s glorious path toward mainstream when the major fashion houses start creating entire collections around the activity. Fortunately, Ted Baker’s modern British eye has turned to it before such department store brands as Hilfiger, setting the (handle)bar pretty high for others entering the space.

Click through for a sampling and video teaser of the collection…

Clever features include the “Action Back” shoulder construction allows for ease of movement and proper positioning on the bike, plus hidden pockets and reflective details that don’t distract when off the bike.

The blazer has underarm eyelets to help vent heat and overlapped panels on the back of the shoulders to let your arms reach forward without pulling the shoulder yoke too tight and restricting movement. Flip the collar for reflective striping.

The polo shirts have reflective stripes under their collar, too, plus a hidden zip pocket on the rear side.

Trousers have a reinforced seat, side zip pocket and ergonomic cut to the legs. They’re slim fit, but it’s a stretch cotton. Roll the legs up for reflective hits with a velcro cuff adjustment on the drive side. Tuck the rear pocket flaps into the pockets and they reveal a reflective strip.

I always glad when the clothes I buy are “ready to wear”. So much better than paying for a shirt then having to assemble it…

The good news is, it’s only 70 quid for a polo shirt! No thanks.

Regardless of what pants you’re wearing, you’re probably not going to be very comfortable riding with the saddle tilted up like that.

Very few suit jackets are ready to wear. I don’t understand why that is getting snark.

@JR
Clearly ready-to-wear means rolling up your pant legs to show off that hipster selvage, instead of hemming your pant legs like on a suit.

And the jacket comes pre-fit to the stylish, “I bought this for $5 from Goodwill and it doesn’t really fit” look.

That sh*t would be huge in the Mission.

It’s great that the polo has reflective tape under the collar. Now you can pop your collar and ride a fixie, making you twice as a usual douchy hipster.
