DZR Mechanic Shoe (2)

DZR is the king of street cool. Their new Mechanic shoe is no exception. Released last year as a limited release, this year the shoes have joined the official product line. They feature a natural gum rubber sole, a double stitched abrasion resistant nylon upper, and a perforated synthetic leather toe box. They’re also clipless compatible and will retail for $100.

Another look at the svelte kicks.

DZR Bearded Dragon

The real story of the show of course was the booth babes. Just look at how cute that bearded dragon is!

Camo touches are cool too.

The DZR booth also featured this gigantic creepy crawly….

….and a school of goldfish. Apparently many of the shoes have a full seam sealed waterproof membrane which keeps them waterproof.

The San Francisco based company knows how to make great looking kicks, and they now offer both urban and dirt specific models.

But really, how cute is this guy?

I like the DZR shoes, but I don’t get why they’re called Mechanic shoes. What about the shoe is different to get the name “Mechanic”?

I was excited that DZR had come up with a shoe focused to a need of bike mechanics, but it is only another black shoe.

Cuz they look like Authentics, and they have a clipless option. This way we can still look cool, dont hafta ride with a reg sole on our XTR pedals, or bring a second pair of shoes to work. DZR nailed it. Want em.

Anyone else click on this wondering how you make a shoe specifically for mechanics?

Clipless, because there’s nothing more comfy for standing all day than a cleat under your foot. I think I’ll stick with my Vans for work (although my 5.10s are a close second).

These look like they have a very different sole than the other DZR shoes.

Really? Nothing in the article said they were targeted for mechanics-is a glove called the ‘Switchback’ assumed to be for riding switchbacks? It’s just a name for a shoe people-

It’s just a name, and it’s a cool one. It’s not just for mechanics, it’s for everyone…it’s a mechanically inspired piece of cycling equipment and I’ll be placing my order soon.

Smart name for a shoe – scuff resistant, black, washable toe. Should appeal to wrenches, lots of whom ride to work. I dig their styles. Not too pricey either.

What do you call a lizard that sings… a rap-tile.

Did you hear about the old chameleon that couldn’t change color? He had a reptile dysfunction.

headline = WINS BEST BOOTH BABES OF INTERBIKE
photos = Lizard….

I guess that was on purpose and I fell for it?

As an actual mechanic, I need a shoe that’s more comfortable than your average skate shoe for standing around in all day…i.e., actually supportive, like a Birkenstock, not like a Clark’s. I also need something that isn’t a glorified sponge for fork oil, Stan’s, and DOT fluid…i.e., more messes than one encounters on SF fixies.

lololol @ any sexist pigs who actually thought they were going to see scantily clad women being used as objects to sell stuff.

That lizard looks like a chill dude.

I’m with Ron on this one. As a guy who stands on his feet for 7-8 hours a day working on bikes, there’s nothing about a clipless shoe that sounds comfortable.

I’ve heard of some willing to naw an limb off to get away from someone, but this might be one that can afford to regrow it.

Best booth babes at Interbike is a massively tough call. My top picks: Tour of California girls, Cipollini girls (Mario you dog ;-)), Finish Line had some girl next door action going on… In reality though, the hottest women in the world couldn’t compete with some of the bike porn on display.

No, the Mexican Radio reference signals to the rest of us how old you are if you remember a one-hit-wonder from 1983…

@Matt,

“DZR Releases Mechanics Shoe”… That is what made me think it was a shoe for mechanics. Not poking at BR, but I thought it was a typo not making “Mechanics” possessive.

It would be awesome for a shoe company to make a shoe for bike mechanics. Something with a good insole and comfy without looking like a diabetic shoe or a corrective shoe.

Also speaking as a wrench; support is paramount when you work on your feet. But it also isn’t always convenient to leave boots at work and change out of your clipless shoes.

I guess it’s called a ‘mechanic’s’ shoe just because it has the faux leather toe-box which generally in a worst case scenario is going to be the part of your foot that gets the heavy/sharp bits dropped on it. Having it perforated does seem a bit ill-advised for the aforementioned DOT fluid/Sealant/Brake Cleaner/ect.
