Fizik Lights Up Saddles w/ New Reflective Arione, Antares & Aliante

Headed for the bikes of seven different teams at this year’s Tour de France are new limited editions of three of Fizik’s top road saddles…and you shouldn’t have a hard time spotting them under camera flashes.

The special versions of the Arione R3, Antares R3 and Aliante Gamma will use reflective panels on their black Microtex covers. It’s a small safety upgrade for the rest of us (when you’re off the saddle and it’s dark out, anyway), but definitely cool. Here’s a few details from the press release:

The fi’zi:k Arione R3 and Antares R3 both use the same structure and Microtex thigh glides with reflective film as the pro version, and incorporates a k:ium rail. The 185g Arione R3 is designed for highly flexible riders and 195g Antares R3 for those with medium levels of flexibility. Both are both priced at €210. The fi’zi:k Aliante Gamma uses a carbon reinforced nylon shell to cater for less flexible riders and is available for just €169. The saddle weighs 259g and incorporates the samereflective film and Microtex cover as the pro-standard version of the saddle, again along with a k:ium rail.

  1. Exactly what I was thinking. Especially on the top. The only useful places would be the sides of the nose and a band around the rear. Maybe the sides if you wanted visibility while sprinting out of saddle in the middle of the night.

  2. In other news, have you seen those new reflective baselayers? Just about as visible as a reflective saddle.

  3. Just adds to the laundry list of reasons I really never cared for Fizik saddles. This one tops their “stupid is as stupid does” category.
