New, Longer K-Edge Pro Mount XL Conveniently Fits Just-Announced Garmin 1000
Talk about a quick turn around! The new K-Edge Pro Handlebar Mount XL fits the new, larger Garmin 1000 cycling computer.
The unit is CNC machined out of billet aluminum with a bolt-in plastic retention mechanism, like the original, but grows 7mm longer to accommodate the larger head unit. It’s for 31.8mm handlebars only, comes in anodized black, red and gunmetal gray, and retails for $44.99. It’ll also work with the Garmin Edge 810/510/800/500/200/310XT models, just in case you want to push your computer out a hair further. It’s made in their Boise, ID, factory and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

PRESS RELEASE: The New K-EDGE Garmin® Computer Mount – XL, is 7mm longer than K-EDGE’s standard (K13-500) Pro Handlebar Mount. Machined out of billet aluminum and engineered with radial cuts designed to increase stiffness and reduce overall weight, the new XL can hold over 100lbs without movement. This certainly can hold the 20gram weight increase and further forward position of the new Garmin® 1000.
Forces generated from potholes, cobbles and even road vibration are enough to cause failure of lesser mounts. The addition of crashes, accidental knocks, or simply a pro draping their arms over their handlebars and mount at the sharp end of the race can add to the need for a stronger mount.
Team SKY has been training and racing with the K-EDGE Pro Handlebar Mount in Belgium throughout the March and April 2014 spring classics. Since they train with the Garmin EDGE 810 and race with the Garmin® EDGE 510 over the cobbles, they required the increased strength and security of the K-EDGE Pro Handlebar Mount.
Available April 28th, 2014 at your local bike shop.
