I thought people stopped using 27,2mm seatposts in the late ’90s.

Some manufacturers purposely put 27.2 mm posts on carbon race bikes to provide a bit more flex and comfort. The XTC Advanced is their pure XC race bike, and it’s assumed there will be no dropper post.

I own one of these and it’s a great bike. The post flexes like a mutha, though….I could see it being a breaking point.

could be that internal seat post clamp that is the real problem

I have a friend who has that bike and a carbon fiber seatpost will not stay locked in place on that frame No matter what he does. I have one as well and I love it but it took six weeks to get a warranty replacement.
