Rudy Project Introduces new Firebolt Performance Shades

Firbolt

Continuing to pump out new styles of sunglasses, Rudy’s new Firebolt glasses are here. Continuing in the style of the wildly successful Ekynox SX, the Firebolt has a full frame with vented lenses to prevent fogging. At 27 grams, the Firebolts are certainly light, and have an ergonomic fit to integrate well with helmets or hats for running. According to Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America, “We’re proud the Firebolt brings together these features with Italian craftsmanship at an affordable price point. These are sure to be a hot item for any athlete looking to up their game.”

The Firebolt includes Rudy’s Quick Change lens system, as well as anti-slip rubber temple tips and their adjustable Ergo IV nosepiece. Also like many Rudy Projects the Firebolt is fully RX compatible with Rudy’s ImpactRX FreeForm TEK that claims a 20% increase in peripheral vision over competitors due to digital surfacing on the backside of the lens.

Firebolts will retail for $160 and will be offered in Smoke, Multilaser Orange, or Photoclear lenses which are photochromic with an 18-78% light transmission.

I don’t think any cycling sunglasses that don’t have rimless frames can be even remotely attractive

I have Rudy sunglasses and they are very nice. I’d even go so far as to say I’ll probably buy another pair someday. But in what universe is $160 considered affordable?

I don’t think anyone has ever paid retail for a pair of Rudys.

I find full-frame cycling glasses highly distracting.
