AX Lightness Shows 55g Saddle, 80g Post & More, Plus 10.8lb Vial Road Bike
AX Lightness unveiled the Vial road bike frame in January, claiming a 745g frame weight (medium) without sacrificing stiffness. Now that we’ve got a closer look, we believe them. It’s quite gorgeous with a sweeping top tube into the seatstays, but the bottom bracket section meets up with a massive rectangular downtube.
Put it together with a host of their own lightweight components and you get a bike that tips the scales at just 10.8lbs (4.9kg).
They take full advantage of the BB 386 Evo’s extra width.
Their SRT 24 Ultra carbon tubular road wheels give the Tune wheels a run for their money as the lightest wheelset available. The brands seem to regularly use each others’ parts on builds.
More ridiculously lightweight goods join the ranks, check the signage for details (click to enlarge any image).
The Morpheus cranks use inserts at the pedal threads that change the center position, allowing for multiple crankarm lengths.
