With over 30 eye catching products, Alchemy Goods doesn’t just give you the standard farmer’s market tote bag made of repurposed patchwork materials (unless that’s what you’re looking for, then check out their ad bag made of old billboard advertisements), they upcycle would be garbage into handbags, messenger bags, wallets, bottle openers, laptop sleeves, e-reader sleeves, and more.  Read on to find what you’ll be getting that hard to buy for cyclist who has everything this year.

Recycling and cycling seem to go hand in hand like peanut butter and Jelly.  But whereas recycling just makes something into the same thing again, upcycling makes the original product into something better, like graduating to Fluffernutters or filet mignon.

Alchemy Goods has reclaimed, or upcycled, over 182 million inner tubes though REIs and Trek stores in addition to seat belts and ad banners to create products such as the waterproof, 79% recycled Eastlake laptop sleeve pictured below, also available in ipad and Kindle sizes.

As one would expect, they offer a wide variety of bags you could put that tablet or e-reader into to get it to school or work, but for the more stylish consumer, there are some more surprising products such as the Magolia and Ravenna hand bags pictured below.

Who knew that dirty old tube you just pulled our of your thorn riddled tire could look so good?  Throw in a matching wallet like the Queen Anne or Georgetown and voila, that long ride you took on your anniversary is forgiven.  Guys, don’t worry, we’re not left out either, check out the 99% upcycled Franklin (pictured below) or Belltown.

Throw in backpacks, waterproof messenger bags, belts, and business card holders and, while they haven’t figured out the medieval quest to turn lead into gold, Alchemy Goods has figured out how we can all, from house husbands to college students to businesswomen, show our cycling style even when we’re off the bike.

I think the bag looks sweet and the idea is neat, but if they smell like tubes I’m out :)
