Sony Previews Prototype POV Action Camera

Everyone loves recording their adventures (and occasional misadventures) via small, portable, and resilient POV cameras. Companies like GoPro, Contour, and Optrix HD have products and mounts for every conceivable application, but for those looking for yet another alternative,  Sony is jumping into the fray.

Their video camera, still in the development stages,  is tiny. It houses Sony’s hallmark SteadyShot®image stabilization technology, Exmor® R CMOS image sensor, and an ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss® Tessar® lens. Expect it to be on shelves in time for Christmas.

Ummm… Looks like it’s not as tall as a pair of goggles… Length can probably be inferred…

This particular model is a non working prototype that was on display at CE Week. We don’t know anything further than the few facts posted by Sony. This picture posted on The Verge gives you a good idea of scale:

someone please ask Nokia to put their Pureview camera into a compact package like this! would definately be a hit…
