Shock from a SoftRide stem.

Shredder - 05/21/12 - 9:24am

Looks like a pull shock off the bottom of a Schwinn S A A S.

Since it looks like the pull operated shock on a Buell motorcycle, I will guess the shock from one of the Schwinn bikes with Buell designed rear suspension. I don’t know enough about them to give a specific model since I’m guessing based on motorcycle knowledge.

WannaBeSTi - 05/21/12 - 6:33pm

It looks like a Works Performance rear shock from a Barracuda.

JohnG - 05/21/12 - 9:34pm

My guess is a spring compression tool.

ZUUL - 05/22/12 - 12:15am

Answer from Jeff at First Flight Bicycles in Statesville, NC: “The big coil over is off of a Schwinn Paramount SASS/Buell full suspension bike.”

Pictures of the shock installed:

@Firstflight: So this is some sort of pull shock? The Schwinn is a GT RTS of the same era, except with the shock under the downtube, instead of above it.

jimmy5willy - 07/13/12 - 1:16pm

I have a Buell SASS bike. Shocks under the downtube aren’t uncommon either. Google Giant ATX 1000. 😉
