Marin Point Reyes 29er and Stelvio Road Bike Receive Updates for 2011

In addition to the new Marin Mount Vision XM, and other changes to their venerable mountain bike line, Marin is also slipping in a few changes to their Street and Road line with revised versions of both the Point Reyes Urban 29er, and their top end Stelvio road bike.

In regards to the Point Reyes, the frame remains 6061 Aluminum, yet is treated to the new triple butted Hydro-Edge II top and down tubes, while the double butted E4 anti-flex stays remain the same. In addition to the change in frame design, the 2011 Point Reyes also gets upgraded to hydraulic Tektro Draco disc brakes, which replace the previous Hayes MX-4 Mechanical Discs. You might expect a price increase with the added improvements, yet somehow Marin actually managed to drop the price from $1,075 to $999!

What changed on the Stelvio? You’ll have to jump past the break to find out!

While the lines of the Stelvio look similar to the 2010 model, there have been some pretty major changes. Perhaps, the most dramatic upgrades are the move to a tapered 1 1/8 to 1.5 head tube, and the inclusion of a BB30 bottom bracket. In addition to the change in standards, the Stelvio also receives different carbon, now Full CXR T3 Carbon.

The Stelvio will be available in three builds, Dura Ace, Ultegra, and 105, with prices of $4,999, $2,999, and $2,099 respectively, which are all lower price points than 2010. While all Stelvios will be built with a BB30 bottom bracket, only the Dura Ace model is equipped with an FSA K-Force Light BB30 crankset to take advantage of it. The Ultegra and 105 models on the other hand, are speced with Marin’s Big Pipe Billet BB30 to BB68 threaded adapter to run standard Shimano Cranks.
