(Sorry…Avid said the pics were a little TOO revealing! March 15, all will be revealed…)

This blurry sneak peek is all we can show you until March 15 of the new brakes from Avid, but they’re sweet and look to be a solid refinement over current gen Elixirs. Until then, let your imagination run wild…and check out the blurry cam pic of the levers after the break…

Is it just me or does the caliper say FLOOR it, kind of stupid when you’re making up a name for a brake. If avid wanted us to floor it they wouldn’t have made brakes in the first place.

Not sure what all the SRAM excitement is supposed to be about… … I got all tooooo excited last time around and for what? New paint. Whoopdeedillydoo.
What… They’ll take their XX groupo, paint it up all-black, and call it “XXX” ?
All this hypin’ – This betta be good.

The brakes might be a mystery, but the spot where the photo was taken is not: Sunny Cove, Santa Cruz

Amen Kovas. I think Elixirs are a superb brake. Some minor improvements here and there maybe but how much better could they get?

That’s the product cycle. Every major component group gets a redesign every 2 to 3 years, for better or worse. Okay seldom worse. Gotta feed the machine though.

They sure don’t have to count on me, after owning three pairs of XX brakes (issues with both sets), I’ve had it with Avid. For me it’s Magura !

MSC – if you like Magura you’ll dig these new 2012 brakes: http://bicycling.com/blogs/thestraightdirt/2011/02/23/magura-unveils-four-new-disc-brakes/

Well, it certainly looks like they have new rotors, that’s a start. The Elixirs were definitely not without issues, hopefully this new generation will bring Avid up to the level of the other brake manufacturers.
