Originally released just before Interbike, POC’s Trabec helmet marks a noted departure from the DH and DJ line of helmets they were currently offering. While not quite an XC helmet, the AM inspired Trabec is a likely choice for gravity oriented riders when their riding takes them away from the lifts.
Offering much more protection for the side and back of the heads than your average XC lid (also appears more so than current AM helmets such as the Xen, etc.), the Trabec is claimed to fit more like a skate helmet than your average bicycle helmet. That’s not to say that it will vent like a skate helmet though, as 16 large, well placed vents will surely help to keep your head from baking in a styrofoam hotbox.
In order to offer the highest level of protection, the in-molded Trabec is constructed of an Aramid filament reinforced EPS (Expanded PolyStyrene foam) core with a poly carbonate shell that has been constructed specifically to keep seams away from vulnerable areas prone to impact. While the Trabec is offered in two models, the Trabec Race and the Trabec, the only difference comes down to the amount of Aramid reinforcement, which means the Race model gets more protection from extra Aramid.
Both models of the Trabec will be offered in three sizes, XS-S, M-L & XL-XXL, and will also be offered in 3 unique colors that differ between the two.

The Trabec Race will be offered in orange/white, black/white, and white/orange and will retail for $179.00.
While the Trabec will be offered in colorways with panels that are much closer in color than the stark contrast of the Trabec Race. The Trabec will be offered in lime green, blue, and black, and will retail for $149.00.
