This might be a case of just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

I purchased a 2012 53cm version of this bicycle after looking/searching for two years on eBay and craigslist. I would love to locate a 55cm/57cm frame with the 451mm wheels.

The fun factor of this Mini Velo bicycle is amazing and I take it inside the grocery store for shopping. Perfect bicycle to carry about up or downstairs, it is short and easy to maneuver in stairwell or bike room. This is the perfect bicycle to potter about the neighborhood at slow speeds, or to zip along @ 25 miles per hour when commuting in work traffic. (53/39 chain ring changed out for a 54/42)

I discovered the Mini Velo in Japan, but sizing is only 48/52 have never found a taller bicycle of this design in the larger sizes rumored to have been produced by Soma.

There are several updated version of the Mini Velo with larger headsets, mechanical & Juice Disc brakes frames, carbon forks & wheels to bring the weight down via alloy, carbon or Titanium frames. The Tern Surge is a modernized mini velo with its aero alloy frame, but only unfortunately in a 46 & 50cm frame.

Java and a few other look alike in the Singapore market place are another light weight alloy frame with a carbon fork that comes with Sram 11 speed drive train, and mechanical disc brakes, but unfortunately only in small Asian sizes.

One day I will win a lotto ticket and be able to afford a custom Mini Velo build, Sram eTap Titanium framed Mini Velo with Disc brakes. In the mean time I will enjoy my 53cm Soma Mini Velo on many short neighborhood rides.
