The idea has been around for a couple years (since we saw SRAM’s version at Interbike 2008), and while Affix’s version may not be brand new from this year’s Interbike, it’s new to us.

The Freefix hub offers riders another option to quickly transition from a fixed gear to a freewheel without wheel removal. What sets this hub apart from the SRAM version, is multiple options for frame spacing, including the tradition 120mm found on most track/fixed frames (and 135mm mountain bike spacing… hmmmm).

The SRAM torpedo comes in 120 and 130 spacing, so technically it has options as well.

Ahhhh, so it is. My mistake (although SRAM needs to update their website info…)
