Interbike 2010: Corsa Superleggera LR – A very promising XC fork from Marzocchi
After a few years in the wilderness, Marzocchi are coming back strong in an attempt to reestablish themselves as the choice for riders who demand supple suspension and reliability without worrying too much about weight. Last year’s 44 Micro Ti was an incredibly plush fork and revised dampers throughout the company’s range save both weight and cost over previous versions. Most interesting to me, though, was the Corsa Supereggera LR. Internally adjustable from 80-120mm travel, the Superleggera LR weighs in at a reasonable 3.6lb and is the cross country choice of the Marzocchi guys manning the booth. At $400, it is also refreshingly within reach for many riders. For anyone looking for a set and forget fork for a hardtail or shorter-travel cross country bike, the Corsa Superleggera looks like a very good place to start.

Back in May, we got the scoop with the suprise intro of this fork, and Interbike was the first time they had them around for some hands on time. Claimed weight is 3.2lbs, and this one with remote and uncut steerer came in at 3lbs 7oz (3.44lbs), so we can see one with cut steerer and no remote coming in at the claimed weight with no problem.
If white weren’t still such a hot color, we’d say the limited edition Ferrari red might steal the show. Well, actually, Marzocchi’s colored Ti Nitride technology was stealing the show:
Judging by the crowd of teenage grommets standing around trying to talk nice to JP at Marzocchi, there must have been rumor (we had nothing to do with it, swearsies) floating around that these three green-stanchioned forks were being given away at the end of the day. From talking to JP, apparently they can do quite a few different colors with their Ti Nitride process…we say match up some red stanchions with that Corsa!
