Interbike 2010: Waterproofs from Showers Pass and Campagnolo

A couple of waterproof jackets jumped out at us while wandering the halls of Interbike last week.  Both are relatively simple, close-fitted waterproof/breathable pieces that would work as well on long road rides as the daily commute.  Though they are similarly priced and designed, these jackets come from two very different companies.

campagnolo-heritage-waterproof-jacketThe Heritage Waterproof Jacket is made of Campagnolo’s Textran Light two layer fabric.  Like the rest of the Heritage collection, the Waterproof Jacket has a good deal of reflective detailing to keep the rider visible.  It’s stitched in Italy and  available in the pictured ‘titanium’ as well as a lighter ‘ergal’ color for $260.

Showers Pass’ low profile Elite Pro jacket is a slim-fit 3-layer jacket built from a very nice feeling Elite 3-layer fabric.  An asymmetrical zipper and ports designed to provide flow-through ventilation should keep the Elite Pro wearer as comfortable as possible on long days out in the rain.  The Elite Pro packs smaller than the company’s 2-layer waterproof jackets, too, which should keep it from being a burden if things do dry up.  Available in ‘goldenrod’ for $230.
