New Belgium Brewing Mixes Beer and Barriers With In-House Cyclocross Course
New Belgium Brewery has been a longstanding supporter of cycling, whether it be road, mountain, or cyclocross. For years, the famous label featuring a fat tire cruiser on the front has been a favorite for post-ride beers around the country.
Now, CX Magazine reports that the company is taking their love for cycling one step further, by building an in house cyclocross course, covering the grounds of their 50-acre Fort Collins, CO headquarters. That’s right, a cyclocross course AT a brewery. Sound too good to be true? It gets better…see what New Belgium is doing with the course and watch a helmet cam video of the entire route after the break
As if the course wasn’t cool enough, the New Belgium grounds will also play host to a four-week cyclocross series open to the public called the Fort Collins CX Series at New Belgium; a grassroots project with 100 percent of the profits going to supporting junior cycling. If there are any profits, that is. Organizers are promising just $5 entry fees with juniors 18 and under racing for free.
Final details are yet to be released, but preliminary dates have been set for every Tuesday in October, with racing on the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. Check out the video of the course below and read the full article from Cyclocross Magazine here. The series doesn’t appear to have a dedicated website set up yet, so stay tuned to BikeRumor for more info on the series as it becomes available.
