Progressive Bikes have just announced that they are the new UK distributor for the Canfield Brothers range of frames and components. Canfield Brothers is run by two brothers from the USA, Chris and Lance, who compete on their own bikes as well as designing and overseeing production of each frame. Chris and Lance have spend the last 10 years designing, developing and prototyping their unique suspension systems culminating in the ‘Jedi’ (DH/FR) and ‘The One’ (AM/FR) frames. Progressive Bikes will also be importing the revolutionary new Crampon Pedals. More photos and information after the break.

The Crampon pedals are the thinnest platform pedal on the market and weigh in at just 395 grams. Thin pedals improve bike handling by lowering the rider weight, and will also increase pedal clearance so there is less chance of nasty pedal strikes. Canfield Brothers claim that the design of these pedals also helps riders push through the normal dead spots at the top and bottom of the stroke thus increasing pedal efficiency. Progressive Bikes are going to send us a demo pedal soon so watch this space for a review.

Canfield describe The Jedi frame as “the fastest bike in the world”, claiming the suspension’s 2.5″ rearward axle path allows it to deal with bumps without slowing down.

The One is a 7-8″ travel frame which weighs in at 7.1lbs with a Roco World Cup Air rear shock and can be built up to under 30lbs.

More info about the Canfield Brothers products can be found here on their website.

The Crampon pedals are due to ship in a few weeks time and can be purchased directly from Progressive Bikes, although numbers are limited so be quick! Retail price on the pedals will be £135 and shipping to Europe is available.  More information on the pricing of the frames will be on Progressive Bikes website shortly.
