Looking for fresh tweets from people directly on the scene? Check out the TweetdeFrance.

Set up to showcase twitter messages from people using the term “tour de france” that are actually at or near the event, it’ll show you who is posting and where they are along the course. The map refreshes in real time and shows the latest 75 tweets.

Want your tweet to show up on up on it? First, make sure your geotagging is turned on in your Twitter account. Then just use the phrase “tour de france” in a tweet and up it goes. Not at le Tour? Just click on the “World” tab at the top of the map on TweetdeFrance’s website and it’ll show all of the tweets in the world that have that phrase. But look closely and quickly, it’ll only show the latest 75 tweets.

Team RadioShack has embedded it on their website, so presumably they’ll be posting much more (starting next week is what we’ve heard from the folks behind TweetdeFrance), which would let you see not only what they’re saying, but where they are when they’re saying it. Twitter stalkers rejoice!

The Tweet Maps are a product of Microsoft’s Fuse Labs, if you’re wondering, and they overlay the tweets on Bing maps. You can create custom Tweet Maps for your own event, blog or whatever by clicking here. What’s cool about the geotagging feature is that you’re seeing tweets from people actually at the event they’re talking about, which keeps posers from ruining your party.
