Answer’s New Rove DJ Stems in the Wild

Answer sprung these hot new DJ stems on Ben’s Cycle and John Prolly.  Following the machined look and design of the new direct-mount DH stems they showed at Sea Otter, the Dirt Jump models debuted at Interbike in the Red and Gold colors.  We’re glad to see the addition of White and Black, and they’ll match up with the new 2010 Answer pedals and handlebars.

Weight is ~200g, and they come in 35mm and 50mm lengths for 31.8 diameter OS bars only.  More photos after the break…

The long-named Ironman Global Trainer with GPS has a customizable four-section screen that lets you show the data you want, and hidden inside the thin body is a SiRFstarIII GPS module that’ll track your speed, pace and distance in real time.  It’ll work with Timex heartrate and bicycle sensors as well as third-party ANT+ power meters.

Toronto Star Categorizes Cyclists and Their Wacky Bikes

The Toronto Star has a gallery of “urban cycling tribes” featuring various types of cyclists and their bikes.  Above, The Futurist.  Others include Shopper Girl, The Commuter, The Recycler, The Grey Wolf, Winter Beater, The Family Dynamic, The Roadies, and a couple more.

Another (vastly cooler) feature is the Weekly Maps, recently showing Commuter Cycling by Census and Drunk Driving Map so you can see which streets are most likely to get you run over by booze hounds.

Camper Bike

Artist Kevin Cyr’s Camper Bike is designed as a functioning sculpture piece that’s also the subject of several paintings.

The Camper Bike project began in 2008 and is a fully functional solo camper that’s attached to a modified bicycle frame.  Inside are all the amenities one could hope to squeeze into such a miniature living space.  Check out the blueprints and some of the paintings of it after the break…

Final Pro XCT Mountain Bike Race Becomes a Stage Race, Offers Huge UCI Points

A racer in the 2009 CTS International Classic

The Carmichael Training Systems International Classic is now a UCI-sanctioned stage race with Time Trial, Cross Country and Short Track events.

The change in structure gives pro men and women each a shot at 655 UCI points, which, according to race director Andy Bohlmann is almost half of all points available from U.S. races in 2010.  Besides all those points, pro men and women series winners will automatically qualify for the 2010 USA Cycling World Championship Team as well as earning qualification points toward the 2012 Olympic squad and entry into the National Championships July 15-18 in Granby, CO.
