Sidi Shoes Contest: Tell Your Story, Win Stuff Like A Look 556 Road Bike…and Sidi Shoes.

In celebration of their 5oth Anniversary, Sidi wants to hear your stories about rides, adventures and other craziness on your bike and in your Sidis.

It could be a poem, haiku, story, joke, whatever.  All entries will be judged and on February 1, the top 50 will win a pair of top-of-the-line Sidi shoes.  Then, around March 1, one story will be chosen as the best and win:

  • A complete carbon LOOK 556 bike with SRAM Rival components (and Look Keo pedals, of course) to put those Sidi shoes to good use with.
  • A Sidi Team Apparel Kit (hat, jersey, shorts, socks) so you can look good doing it.

Winners will have a choice of either the Ergo 2, T2.6 or Dragon 2 shoe, shown above (women’s versions available if luck be a lady).  Click here for full contest details.

Cane Creek Discontinues Wheels, Has Closeout Blowout Sale

cane-creek-wheel1cane-creek-wheel2

Cane Creek has decided to exit the wheel business.  Over the years, their designs have been pretty and unique, like the Track wheels with deep carbon rims and Cronometro nipples-at-the-hubs design.  But times they are a changing, and now they’re blowing out remaining inventory.  Score some of their top wheels from recent model years for good deals, plus brakes, clothing and more.  All parts will be fully guaranteed with their warranty (they’re saving repair and replacement parts just in case).

Silver lining?  Well, it may be no small comfort to any dealer with wheels left in stock, but Cane Creek is promising some big new things this year.

Hit up their eBay store to buy, and see the full item/price list of closeouts after the break…

2010 Cube Sting HTC Full Suspension Mountain Bike

cube-sting-htc-team-2010-mountain-bike

Every now and then it’s fun to show some stuff from across the pond, and Cube’s top of the line 120mm travel Sting full suspension XC bikes really caught our eye.

The Sting HPC Teamline, shown above, uses Cube’s Dual Trail Control suspension design that places the shock within the rear triangle.  They claim this provides neutral response to pedal input while remaining very active over the terrain.  The frame is full carbon made with their Twin Mold Process to reduce resin.  It has a Shimano XTR drivetrain with some seriously high zoot parts mix: Syntace seatpost, bar and stem, Magura Durin 120mm fork, Formula R1 hydraulic disc brakes, DT Swiss carbon wheelset and Schwalbe tires.  Rear cush is provided by a custom tuned Fox Float RP23 shock with Boost Valve.  Claimed weight is 10.4kg (22.9 lbs).

Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival Set for August

The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival is set for August 7 and 8 at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado. This third-year event was formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Show.

“Calling it a festival better describes what the weekend is all about,” said Carol Johnson, Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival (RMBF) director. “The festival features everything from custom builders, production bikes, components and accessories, to specialty service companies and non-profits together with a wide range of other cycling-related attractions.”

For the 2010 edition, the RMBF added an Indoor/Outdoor Demo so attendees can test ride bikes, free seminars and a one-of-a-kind Graham Watson photo exhibit. The event will kick-off the weekend with a party at Boulder Indoor Cycling on Friday night. The festival adds a Bicycle Colorado’s Bike Rodeo, the Kids’ Art Corner, and companies catering to youth cycling for a family-friendly event. Attendees on Sunday will be treated to the First Annual RMBF Short-Subject Film Competition.

Exhibitors can register at www.RMBFestival.com. Advance tickets will be available for attendees both online and at local Denver businesses starting in July. For more information, or contact Carol@RMBFestival.com with any questions.

Trek Travel Now Offering E-Bike Touring Options

trek-travel-ride-plus-electric-e-bike

Trek Travel, typically known for upscale road bike tours through Europe, has added Trek Ride+ e-bikes to its rental fleet in hopes of drawing a wider range of participants.

“Trek’s Ride+ bike makes climbing the hills of Tuscany or riding along side your more avid partner a more enjoyable experience,” said Trek Travel president Tania Worgull.

“We want to get as many people as possible passionate about riding bikes.”

The concept came about after Trek provided one of the e-bikes to a customer that had to have reconstructive surgery a few months before a 2009 tour but didn’t want to cancel her vacation.

“With the boost our guest could still ride the mountains, while not damaging her knee. Not only did she participate in every ride, other riders were left in her dust as she rode up Ventoux.”

The Ride+ electric assist bike will be available on any Trek Travel vacation with the exception of avid and race trips.
