RockShox SID XX Suspension Fork with Carbon Crown, Steerer
INTERBIKE 2009 – SRAM / Rockshox had the new SID XX World Cup fork on display in white and black with its new carbon crown and steerer.
After moving back to alloy for a couple of years, the SID is once again coming forward with a full carbon upper. The lowers, however, have done away with the carbon-wrapped Power Bulge and carbon fiber arch window in lieu of a full magnesium body. Rockshox’s marketing guy and pro rider, Tyler Morland, said the switch to an all Mag lower saved money and simplified the design without affecting the strength or weight.
The fork is available with either an 80mm or 100mm travel, and it can be swapped between the two with internal tweaks. Hit ‘more’ for closeup detail photos, weight and more…
The slight Power Bulge is still there, it’s just no longer carbon fiber.
Blackbox carbon crown and steerer tube now differentiate the World Cup and XX as the top of the line. The only difference between the WC and WC XX forks is the new XX-specific Pop-Loc hydraulic lockout…and about 5g. The WC is 1400g and the WC XX is 1405g.
Only standard 9mm QR axles are supported with the SID for the time being. Price? North of $1,100…
