INTERBIKE 2009 – Kona has expanded their commuter and cruise offerings with additions to the Dew and Africa bikes.
Shown above is the new Super Dew, their top-of-the-line commuter decked out with Kona’s carbon disc fork, Shimano 105 / Ultegra drivetrain, FSA carbon bar and FSA stem, cranks, wheels and seatpost, WTB Rocket V Comp saddle and Continental tires all built around a Scandium Race Light frame.
The Africa Bike line has grown, and there are two new Dew cruiser models with light full suspension to take the edge of hitting those twigs that fall on the bicycle paths.  Hit ‘more’ to see them all…
Carbon cranks and Ultegra derailleurs mean you’ll be first in office parking lot sprints.
Disc brakes help you stop quickly and efficiently if you’re commuting in bad weather.
New for 2010 is the Kona Worldbike, a no nonsense butted Cromoly frame with durable spec that’s ready to roll with fenders, rack mounts and a simple design.
Looks almost like a military bike with the drab, simple appearance.  At just $399, it’s a good beater that you can lean against anything and use for those “social” rides where crazy things might happen.  Shimano Nexus 3-speed hub is also a coaster brake, so you have “stoptions”…get it?  Lame, I know.
Kona’s Africa Bike program helps deliver bicycles to poor area throughout the world to enable the people there to get to and from school, work and stores quickly and efficiently.  The Cromoly bikes are built to last and incorporate the simplest of features because where the donated bicycles go, a broken bike often means an unused bike.
Africa Bike Three is, yep, the third version and incorporates an integrated rear rack, front basket, kickstand, chainguard, fenders and step-through top tube.  If you’re checking Kona’s website, as of this post’s publish date, they’re showing the Africa Bike Three at $449, but $399 is the correct price.
Lastly, the new Kona Dew FS (front, red) offers simple, comfortable commuting and cruising with a front suspension fork and seatpost shock.  The curved top tube provides better standover clearance, and a Shimano (mostly) Deore drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes means solid performance. Formula hubs, Alex wheels, FSA cranks and a Suntour 63mm-travel fork round out the spec.  It even comes with a bell.
