Interbike 2009 - Answer DH/AM/FR Bars, Stems, Pedals and Gloves
INTERBIKE 2009 - Answer had a number of new bits for your cockpit, ranging from Downhill and Freeride worthy all to way to some slim XC gloves.
Above are the new Pro Taper 780 DH handlebars. Â Coming in at 780mm wide and 335g, they use Answer’s patented ProTaper technology to create a strong, durable bar from 7050 series aluminum alloy. Â It’s offered in two rises, 12.7mm and 25.4mm, and three colors: black, gold and red.
More specs on these after the jump, along with pics and deets on their new:
- AM handlebars
- freeride pedals
- DH stems
- DH and XC gloves
The ProTaper bars use tapered wall thickness throughout, with the thickest part being at the stem clamp. Â They taper thinner until just past the top bend, then are straight gauge to the end of the bar.
The Answer ProTaper 720 AM is designed for all-mountain trail riding use and is available in two taller rises, 25.4mm and 50.8mm. Â Rest of the specs on the sheet below:
Answer’s new Rove FR pedals have a slightly concave platform to keep your foot planted in the center and replaceable hex head studs. Â They’re also available in Black (not shown). Â Full specs:
We first saw these direct mount stems as a prototype back at Sea Otter, and since they’ve spawned a Dirt Jump steerer tube clamp model as well. Â They’re machined from 7075 alloy and use stainless steel bolts. Â Weight is 150g (direct mount). Â Full specs:
Oh, and did you notice? Â All those gold, red and black parts match each other, and they match the lock rings on the new grips (not shown), too. Â So you can color coordinate your bike’s components. Â Sadly, no ano purple options.
Answer’s got two new gloves. Â This pair (above and directly below) is the Fall Line XC glove. Â The top is a two-way stretch nylon that’s pretty air feeling for good breathability, and Answer claims it’s resistant to stretching out.
The palm has a silicone logo graphic for a non-slip grip and it’s curved to fit better.
The Fall Line DH is virtually the same save for neoprene knuckle pads to offer a little crash protection.
Both the XC and DH gloves will be available in Small thru XXL sizes.
