Interbike 2009 – Formula Brake Revamps Line, Adds New Models

formula-rx-interbike2009-01

INTERBIKE 2009Formula Brakes has redesigned virtually their entire line and added two new models, the RX and The One FR.  Besides the levers and calipers, they redesigned their rotors, too, and all are now 87g for 160mm steel in a 6-bolt design.  Another across-the-line change is the removal of all pad-contact adjustment dials, and all master cylinders now have eight ports to improve fluid transfer and heat dissipation, which helps prevent fade.  Formula has discontinued the Oro line in favor of the new models.

Shown above, the RX is their new entry level sub-$200 (per wheel) hydraulic brakeset for cross country / trail riding.  They weigh in at 351g (front, post mount) with a 160mm rotor.  It has a cast radial master cylinder with cast one-piece caliper.  The bar mount is a two-bolt flip/flop design, so you can run the levers moto-style if you want, and you don’t have to remove the grip and shifters to swap them around.

Interbike 2009 – Pashley’s New Poppy Women’s Bicycle

pashley-poppy-ladies-interbike09-02

INTERBIKE 2009 – Besides the Clubman prototype, Pashley also had these new ladies’ bicycles called the Poppy.  A departure from Pashley’s usually reserved, rich pallette, the Poppy is available in Pastel Blue and Blush Pink. They’re a simpler version of the Sonnet (pictured at bottom of post), but come complete with the creature comforts expected from the upscale English brand.

They have cork grips, a metal chainguard and full fenders.  The frame is a lugged steel hand-built frame with 3-speed Sturmey Archer rear hub and fully enclosed hub brakes.  MSRP is $995.

Interbike 2009 – BasketBuddy Basket Liners

basket-buddy-interbike-2009

INTERBIKE 2009 – In the mayhem of everyone filing out of the Interbike show room, I ran into this tricked out cruiser and rep. She kept saying “basket buddy” and something about her cups. I was only able to grab a few pics before the crowds moved us along.

The Basket Buddy she was referring to is the basket liner. There are tons of color options available and some of the liners also convert into a tote bag. The liners are $20 and the bags are $30. They also offer other accessories like the cup holders on her hips.

Interbike 2009 – Pashley Clubman 3-Speed Fixie Prototype

pashley-clubman-prototype-interbike09-01

INTERBIKE 2009 – Pashley had its usual collection of high class English style represented, and on center stage was this level example of craftmanship: The Clubman prototype 3-speed fixie.

A gentleman is not to be bothered with things like brakes, or toe clips for that matter, and as such the Clubman delivers only the finest with lugged Reynolds 531 steel tubing, Sturmey Archer 3-speed internally geared hub and new bar-end shifters and other refinements.

Hit ‘more’ to class up a bit there, hipster…
