After learning about Ghost Bikes in This Post, I felt the need to share some encouraging news. And to support the efforts of everyone trying to make cycling safer.
The Palmetto Cycling Coalition has been working to make South Carolina cycling friendly since 1995. Today there are over 700 members across the state. Among other campaigns and education projects, the PCC has worked with the state government to pass new legislation on the state traffic laws pertaining to bicyclists. Currently, the PCC is working with the SC Department of Transportation and Department of Public Safety with a goal of reducing cyclist and pedestrian deaths by 25% in SC by 2010.
