2010 BH G5

2010 bh-g5

BH has just recently released thorough information on their 2010 G5, the revamped version of their previous G4. At first glance, I found myself stuttering because for one, I am a huge fanatic of BH and two, it is sweeeeet! From looks to performance this bike brings the heat.

The new frame is right around 800 grams and lateral BB stiffness was increased by 100% from the G4!

Niner Air 9 Carbon 29er Built and in the Wild!

2010-niner-air-9-carbon-c

BAM!!! Niner’s new Air 9 Carbon in ready to roll! Looks to be built up with full SRAM XX, Rockshox Reba suspension fork, American Classic MTB 29 Disc wheels, Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires and what looks to be Syncros stem and post (and most likely bar, too).  That saddle looks pretty darn thin, too, and we just got official word that this thing comes in right at 20lbs.

Here’s the thing…this bike is built up for Eurobike, which starts later this week.  After you look at the rest of the pics, we’re making a couple of bets we think we’ll win:

1) Do the math and you get a good result:

Tapered steerer tube on Niner Air 9 Carbon

+ Niner’s relatively new carbon rigid fork

———————————————–

Tapered Niner Rigid Carbon Fork Coming Soon!

2) More fun with math:

Niner’s Bio-Centric EBB

+ Really big BB area on Air 9 Carbon

———————————————–

Hot swappable EBB or BB30 Insert!

US Pro Championships – Garmin’s Dave Zabriskie’s Race Bike

uspro-garmin-bike-07

By the time I spotted the Garmin team car and bikes, they were queued up on the main start lane.  Dave Zabriskie was lounging, pretty much like you see above, as I approached.  The conversation went something like this, during which time no emotion was elicited from DZ whatsoever, just an overly laid back tone:

ME: Hey Dave, mind if I take a couple pictures of your bike?

DAVE: There’s bikes right there (nodding toward the ones on the roof of the team car).

ME: Yeah, but I’m weighing a bike from each team and photographing it.

DAVE: Okay.

ME: Mind if I pull the water bottles out?

DAVE: Really?

ME: Well, I’m going to weigh it.

DAVE: I guess.  Whatever.

TEAM GUY: What does it weigh?

ME: 15lb, 14oz.

DAVE: What?

TEAM GUY: Hmmmm, really?

ME: (after replacing bottles) Thanks, Good luck today!  Would you mind doing an interview sometime?

DAVE: Sure.

From there, DZ went on to lead the race for more than half the race by as much as 4:45, mimicking his winning Time Trial performance from Saturday.  Check the out pics and details of the Felt AR Team Issue bike after the break…

US Pro Championships – Columbia HTC’s Hincapie’s Bike

uspro-columbia-bike-02

Hincapie had but Craig Lewis by his side this year, but it was enough to take the win at the 2009 US Pro Cycling Championships.  This is his backup bike, he had already taken off by the time we found their parking space (no rig, just the team car with his bike on top.  It’s the Scott Addict R1, and Scott’s known for some sick light bikes (the retail model is 13.66lbs), so I’m bummed that this is the only team bike I didn’t get a chance to weigh…

But, fear not, I did get some good photos, and he’s modded this thing…check it out after the break…
