With the recent grand opening of Performance Bike’s new store in Greenwood Village (Denver, CO), they introduced their Commuter Rewards Program to all Denver business.

The program rewards anyone who bikes, walks, runs or takes public transit to work for 20 days with a $20 gift card.  If you’re a business, non-profit or government agency in Denver, contact Performance to get set up with the program.

Now, the bad news…

Nashbar reported on July 1 that it’s computers had been breached and credit card information was “compromised.”  They were supposedly calling and mailing letters to all consumers affected last week, so if you placed a credit card order with Nashbar in the last bit, you may want to contact them at custserv@nashbar.com or 800-NASHBAR.

Aren’t Nashbar and Performance the same company? How did only the Nashbar part of the company get ripped off?

We don’t know the answer to that, saimin. Our guess is that they keep the credit card information separate for accounting purposes and somehow only that part was “breached”.

I’m curious to hear the details from Nashbar as my CC info was compromised through them a few months ago. Is this then a second breach or are they just now getting around to reporting it?

Ever since then, I’ve been using virtual CC numbers for Nashbar purchases.
