Look’s New 596 Aero Time Trial Bicycle

Look’s got a new color for their 596 aero Time Trial / Triathlon bike from what they showed at Interbike…hot Red! The pic above and after the break are what they sent with the press release (below). If you want to see close up details, check out our post from Interbike on the bike and the one-piece adjustable full-carbon crankset.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: The LOOK 596, weighing 700g less than its predecessor (496), achieves stiffness and comfort by using a proprietary carbon lay up and molding technique, allowing the frame to be maximized in lateral stiffness without sacrificing overall comfort and handling of the bike.

Aerodynamics is what sets the LOOK 596 bike apart from competition. Studying the aerodynamics of both the head wind and rotational air coming off spinning wheels enabled Look to create a frame with a specific gap between the rear wheel and the seat tube that allows for optimal speed.

The 596 tubeset is designed as a complete unit, considering the frontal air surface contact. The Monoblade fork has been designed to have minimal frontal air surface contact.

The frame seat stays have been developed using an aeronautical technique, where the seat stay is pressed from the outside onto the frame, also increasing the aerodynamics of the bike.

Using a new fully patented one-piece carbon crankset, the 596 offers the highest stiffness to weight ratio in the industry, utilizing a proprietary LOOK 65mm bottom bracket shell.

The arms also use LOOK’s new Trilobe Titanium Keo pedal system, which allow for adjustment of cranks from 170mm to 172.5mm or 175mm.
