Review: Motorex Easy Clean Chain Degreaser

One of the easiest ways to keep your drivetrain in good working order is to keep it CLEAN. Every particle of dirt that gets in your drivetrain has the potential to ruin a lot of rather expensive things, so it’s important to practice regular maintenance.

But cleaning a drivetrain is a tedious process. Grease is often the biggest obstacle, and the old soap and water standby usually doesn’t do much but smear dirty grease around your bike. It usually takes a toothbrush, some degreaser, and lots of patience to get the bike clean, but Motorex’s “Easy Clean” degreaser may mean an end to all this.

Review: Motorex Dry Lube

Chain lube reviews are tough to write. The best lube is heavily depended on conditions, use, maintenance, and personal preference. I’ve been using Motorex Dry Lube on (go figure) dry days for a few months now, and like most chain lubes I’ve tried, it’s kept my chain shifting and not squeaking. But that’s not all there is to this Swiss-imported lube.

Review: Got Krash? Crash Kits

It’s going to happen. Eventually, you will take your eye off the wheel in front of you, hit an errant rock hidden under a pile of leaves, or take a jump with just a little too much speed. Whether you like it or not, crashing is sometimes a part of the sport.

Now, a startup in Wisconsin wants you to be a little more prepared when you can’t keep the rubber side down, with their Got Krash kit, a convenient, all-in-one package with everything you need to treat crash related injuries. The products inside are brand names, and quite a bit cheaper than if you purchased them at your local pharmacy. See the contents, different packages and pricing after the break.

Review: Morgan Blue Body, Bike Care Products

We’re always excited to try out some Euro-goodness here at Bike Rumor, so when Roel at Belgium Bike introduced us to the Morgan Blue products he is importing from Belgium, we jumped at the opportunity to test it out. We had high expectations for this stuff – it’s the same massage and bike maintenance product used by the likes of Mark Cavendish and Andy Schleck during the 2010 season. It’s made in Belgium, and is quite popular in Europe. But does this stuff really work or is its Euro popularity just the result of a massive sponsorship budget? See what we found after the break.

Review: Bar Mitts – Essential Cold Weather Gear

There are very few cycling products that I really love. Not gear that just performs, but gear that excels, above and beyond anything else; a category killer, if you will. When it comes to keeping your hands warm in winter, Bar Mitts perform better than anything else you’ve ever tried; gloves, warmers or liners.

The mitts, which come in both the road version shown above and a mountain bike version, are basically pockets for your hands. They easily slip over your hoods or brake levers, and provide a warm, dry, insulated oasis for your hands while the rest of your body suffers.

In a never ending quest to figure out how to keep my hands warm during cold Midwest winters, I stumbled across Bar Mitts at the Iceman Cometh Challenge MTB race a few months ago. Folks were swarming the booth, and I had to see what all the fuss was about. See what all the hype is about, with a full review, after the break.

Canyon and Cervélo Settle Seat Tube Patent Dispute

Cervélo's R3 frame on the left, and Canyon's "Maximus" seat tube on the right. Quite similar, no?

The battle has been raging for a while now; Canyon bikes sued Cervélo back in November over what they say is a patent infringement regarding their Maximus seat tube design, a tapering tube shape that thickens and elongates as it approaches to bottom bracket junction. The suit started with a ruling in Germany in September, and continued with a November hearing by the European Patent Office. The dispute has now been settled – see who came out on top after the break.
