It’s no secret that Intense has been hard at work on a new 29″ DH platform. After hand making concept bikes in Temecula, CA out of aluminum starting in 2016, Intense Factory Racing would go on to test out five different prototypes throughout the 2017 World Cup. It wasn’t until Crankworx Whistler in late 2017 that the first carbon prototype appeared and was raced under Jack Moir.

Now, a few month later Intense is making the addition to the line official – though you can’t buy one just yet.

Adding to the list of Intense FRO bikes, or For Racing Only, the M29 FRO will apparently be offered in a build that is exactly that of their Factory race team.

While the official spec and price hasn’t been released yet, we assume that will include ENVE wheels, a SRAM X01 DH drivetrain, and top shelf RockShox suspension. Combine that with the fact that there will only be 15 bikes available world wide from the outset, and each will be hand assembled by their factory Race Mechanic and signed by Jeff Seber, and you shouldn’t expect these to come cheap. 15 bikes huh? I knew that demand for Intense had fallen since they went Far East, but I didn’t realise it had fallen that far…

“After hand making concept bikes in Temecula, CA . . .”
So you also remember when Intense used to just call that building frames?

Quite possibly the most beautiful DH bike, maybe second only to Unno’s Ever DH bike. Ultra rare, ultra expensive, and ultra awesome!

Eh, it’s not nearly as nice as the Ancillotti DHP.

Just Google’d the Ancillotti DHP… it’s horrible. Looks like someone tried replicating an old Norco VPS. Just ew.

Hard to say which is more beautiful when Cesar Rojo penned them both, certainly the FRO and the UNNO are the two most stunning DH bikes available, like beautiful sisters.

I suspect these are just being made to comply with the UCI rules about bikes having to be production, although it would shock me to see the uci impose this crazy rule..
