It’s nice to have your efforts recognized! To celebrate winning several trail bike accolades, Commencal has decided to release a new range-topping Race version of their Meta TR V4.2. If the frame is a proven performer, why not deck it out with components that will please serious riders?

Despite keeping its price tag below the 4K mark, the new top-tier Meta TR V4.2 Race offers a competitive build spec that includes Fox Factory Kashima-coated suspension front and rear, a SRAM Eagle 12 speed drivetrain, and an E13 TRS wheelset. The Race wasn’t yet announced when we previewed Commencal’s 2018 lineup back in October, but it’s now available for pre-order direct from Commencal.

The Meta TR V4.2 frame offers 130mm of rear travel, and the Race version pairs that with a 140mm fork. While the component spec is the big news here, the Race version’s frame does offer some unique finishing touches as well. This model comes in a special brushed alloy finish and is adorned with team replica decals that impart a more race-y aesthetic.

Fox takes care of the Race’s suspension – up front is a 3-position Fox Factory 34 Float, and out back you’ll find a Fox Factory Float SV EVOL shock with its own 3-position switch.

The drivetrain is mostly a SRAM GX Eagle 1×12 setup. The shifter, derailleur, chain, cassette and cranks are all there, but (as some of you may applaud) Commencal stuck with Shimano for the brakes. A pair of XT’s on 200/180mm rotors should provide ample control during high-speed descents.

The Meta TR V4.2 Race rolls on an alloy, Boost spaced E13 TRS 27.5” wheelset with 30mm inner width tubeless ready rims. Wheels are wrapped in Maxxis Forekaster 2.35” front and Minion SS 2.3” rear tires with EXO/TR casings. Also included is a specific KS Lev Integra dropper post with the southpaw lever – 125mm of stroke on S/M and 150mm on L/XL frames. Remaining headset, grips, saddle, 50mm stem and 780mm handlebars all come from Commencal’s Ride Alpha component line.

Commencal lists the complete Meta TR V4.2 Race’s weight at 29.5lb (size not specified). Its retail price is $3800, and you can pre-order yours online now.
