Revin Cycling is making their debut with not just one, but four different wheelsets. Just who is Revin Cycling? The brand bills themselves as a premium cycling component brand which makes it sound like wheels are just the beginning. They also happen to be backed by Jenson USA which they say positions them such that they have access to some of the best manufacturers in Asia. They’ve also partnered with ACT Labs for their testing purposes to ensure the products stand up to abuse and include a lifetime warranty just in case.

On the mountain bike side, Revin offers the E27 and E29 for 27.5 and 29″ wheels. Both sizes are available in standard and Pro versions, with the Pro upgrading to a DT Swiss 240 hubset with Sapim CX-Ray spokes to drop the weight.

The Pro set even includes the 54t ratchet ring upgrade kit in the box (the 18t installed on the wheels), along with the necessary tubeless parts. The lower spec standard wheels still include the excellent DT Swiss 350 hubset and Sapim Racing Spokes for a quality build.

All of Revin’s current MTB rims measure 36mm externally, and 30mm internally with a 30mm depth. Revin says that the rims use a “hybrid modulus laminate with unique resins” to create a wheel that is purpose built for the intended use. They’re also all tubeless compatible with hookless MTB rims and hooked road rims.

17 mm internal on the road wheels? – a major disappointment. I ride 19.4 mm and could even go wider.

but where would you stop Larry, what is the exact width that’s perfect? if they where 19.45 would they be better than what you got?

there is too big. i woudnt go much wider than 20mm on a road bike though unless its a gravel bije then probably up to 24mm.
17mm is def a little short to fit large tires well.

for me though the main thing is that you can get these wheels for 900usd direct fom china.. all these basically resellers do help bringing price down but at the end of the day these are no zipp or enve. theyre open molds. so what do you really get for 700usd more?

Is your bike rim brake or disc? If rim brake, how wide a tire can you actually get the brakes around? I couldn’t fit more then a 25mm tire in my ultegra brakes. Since these are rim only, I see no problem with a 17mm internal personally.

I’m running tires that measure over 30mm actual on 21mm internal rims with DA 9000 brakes, I see no reason why you couldn’t run more than a 25mm with Ultegra brakes unless they are 3 generations old or your bike has really weird brake geometry.

In fact they are 3 generations old. The brakes that came with my venerable CAAD 9. It’s my back-up bike now and my new bike has disc brakes, which I am enjoying.

The world doesn’t need another mediocre wheel company touting their designs as “premium”. Especially not one backed by a online discount shop. It’s irresponsible for companies to flood the market with this kind of stuff simply because they have the capital to do it.

Or you could buy what appears to be a very similar wheelset as the E27Pro direct from Lightbicycle for $430 less. ($1098 plus $71 shipping to US). Build it up like the E27 and it comes to $724 plus shipping.

[Edit – May not be lightbicycle as these rims aren’t asymmetric]

What is the deal with manufacters putting cheap stickers on really exensive wheels? They could at the very least silk screen them.
