The new Industry Nine Trail270 mountain bike wheelset builds upon their prior efforts and wider, stronger enduro wheels. This is their third generation trail wheelset, and it gets wider than the T245 launched in 2015. The rim profile is modified to be stronger, too, making it their most durable Trail wheelset yet.

Available in 27.5″ or 29″, the rims are built on their Torch Mountain System Chassis (which means their Torch Hubs, which coincidentally debuted at the same time as their original Trail wheelset in 2013). That lets you swap axle ends to match whatever bike and fork you’re putting them on.

What’s actually new about the wheelset is the rims. Using the tapered bead sidewall of the Enduro305 and Grade300 to improve impact resistance, they stretch from 24.5mm to 27mm internally. I9 says it’s designed for 2.2″ to 2.5″ tires. Inside, the bead seat platform gets a little wider, too, to ease installation and help keep the tires seated during aggressive riding.

The Torch hubs are available with 24 or 32 hole rim drilling, the former offering a more compliant ride for lighter riders and saving a few grams. Claimed weights are:

  • 27.5″ 24H – 1,480g
  • 27.5″ 32H – 1,560g
  • 29er 24H – 1,560g
  • 29er 32H – 1,650g

Like all of their wheels, you can get the hubs and spokes in any of 11 available colors through their AnoLab customization program, even mixing and matching multiple colors. Single-color MSRP is $1225 for 24H, $1245 for 32H.
