The Rapha Pro Team Arenburg cycling sunglasses took their original Pro Team Flyweight shades and added a full frame around the lens. The frame sits flush with the lens, so it shouldn’t limit vision, and it keeps them easy to wipe clean, all the way to the edges. They also added a new Snap Lock hinge so the arms stay open more firmly, making it easier to slide them into helmet vents without collapsing into the folded position. Vents on the tops and far sides of the lens improve ventilation, and the arms get a full-length rubber grip so they’ll hold tight to both your head and your helmet, depending on where you’re wearing them.

The lens is a Carl Zeiss UV400 model that comes standard in neutral gray/bronze mirrored, with other tints available separately.

Claimed weight is 33g. They come with a metal hard case with space for two additional lenses. Retail is $220 (£150 / €180) for the shades, and extra lenses are $120 each (£80 / €95). Get ’em at Rapha.cc.

Scicon bike cases get colorful

Scicon has added three color options to their AeroComfort Road 3.0 TSA soft case. Options include Mellow Yellow, Pastel Red, and Sky Blue. Now you won’t confuse your bike case with the hundreds of others jamming up the luggage carousel…so annoying. Scicon says this model is soft like a bike bag, but protects like a hard case, hopefully mitigating some level of extra fees at the airport. Retail is $899.95.

Untapped gets jacked with coffee

Ted King’s Untapped maple syrup energy gels now come in a coffee infused flavor. They’re still made with pure Vermont maple syrup, and now you can get one with real organic coffee, too. Because the two flavors together are awesome, and because people kept asking them for a caffeinated version. Enjoy.

I love the Untapped gels, however, they need a better distributor or something. I found them in a bike shop in NY; impossible to find in my Texas LBS. And my wife an I asked every shop we went on a recent trip to Colorado (Durango, Telluride etc.) and were unable to find them. Its a shame; great product but I cannot stomach buying them online when I can get clif and powerbar gels for $1.10 or less up the street at Kroger.

I like the Untapped gels. But you need to be careful if you’ve been using normal gels as Untapped come out of the tube much faster. First time I used them I aspirated a bunch of it and for about 2 minutes thought I was going to die.
