Urban fly fishing by bike with Bombtrack and a Beyond bike

Last summer we featured some collapsible fly fishing rods from Tenkara USA that made it easy to pack a fly rod into a Camelbak to get out into the wilderness to do a little fishing. While the solace of fly fishing and cycling certainly has some overlap, you might not need a short rod, or even wilderness to get away. Bombtrack bikes sent us the video below of one of their friends and riders – Tobias Cordes, bass player of popular German band Seeed – and his urban exploits fishing in the middle of Berlin.

The Urban Fly Fishing Berlin video is a bit of a unique project for Bombtrack and their video production colleagues at OSM Films (the first not really focused on the bike, which happens to be a 27.5+ Beyond steel mountain bike btw.) But Tobi is super passionate about the whole ‘fishing closer to home in the heart of your city’ thing and even runs his own side business Ferox Featherworks dedicated to fly fishing gear. So Bombtrack followed along to see what fishing in the center of Berlin entailed.

Now we just need to get Bombtrack to offer that custom bike frame road attachment as a standard part in their catalog. (Seriously, we’ve already asked them to get on it!) Maybe it’s be on the Ferox site first.

Bombtrack.com or maybe more Ferox-FeatherWorks.com

Did someone say that Bombtrack decided to market or offer a fly fishing bike? No. I understand it’s much easier to assume as much instead of considering the possibility that the bike owner modified the bike/added attachments to hold his fishing rod. After all if one hears hoofbeats, one should immediately assume that a unicorn approaching.
