Not content with only an aluminum plus options, Industry Nine is taking it to the next level. With their new PillarCarbon BC360, the company is bridging the gap to lightweight plus tire performance.

Strategically positioned throughout the show in places like the Maxxis booth on this Why Cycles S7 that was also displaying the new Maxxis Rekon + skin wall tires, the PillarCarbon BC360s feature a 36mm inner width and 40mm outer that is hookless and tubeless ready. Designed for 2.4-3.0″ tires and only offered in 27.5″ wheel size, the wheels come in at 1865g for the set, or 570g for the rim and carry a maximum rider weight of 250lbs. Offered in their 11 typical anodized colors, the wheels can also be custom colored in their AnoLab. Retail price for a standard color is $2325, and they’ll be available mid October.

I9 also pointed out that the wheels feature their new rim graphics which will be added to all of their wheels in the near future.

On the hub side, Industry Nine is adding a few fitments – namely for Lefty Supermax forks and a classic single speed Boost configuration. The Supermax hubs come in at 136g for the hub, endcap, bolt, and snap ring. Officially named the Lefty 2.0, the hubs have a 10mm wider flange spacing and come in classic J-Bend, or their System hub to be used with I9 aluminum spokes. Classic hubs will be available in 28 or 32h, and both sell for $190.

The Classic SS Boost hub is just like their geared Boost hub, but with a smaller free hub body that is SS specific. Available in 28 or 32h with a Classic J-Bend design for $385.

Man, we’ve stopped using the pillar carbon rims because they simply don’t hold up very well despite being made by Reynolds. Hopefully these are different? LOVE the hubs and the alloy rims though.

Since when were Reynolds the gauge of durable wheels? I’ve had a few sets of Reynolds carbon wheels that I would consider extremely fragile.

That’s very strange, bc we have guys/girls beating the crap out of 24h PillarCarbon rims up here in the Pisgah roots/rocks, who have yet to experience failure. Of course, it doesn’t take but one rock strike with a sudden flat to cause catastrophic damage. It’s definitely a choice for riders who have the wherewithal to care about serious weight savings!

Not much relevant to this feature, bu does anyone have any insight as to why I9 switched from (mostly) European SKF bearing to garbage Enduro bearings?!
