kuat mini skinny vehicle roof top cargo basket tray

The new Kuat Mini Skinny roof-top cargo basket gives you somewhere to stash your extra gear without taking up the space needed to also transport your bike. Measuring just shy of 24″ wide, you could likely put a roof-mounted bike tray on either side of it. It comes pre-assembled, but is also available with an extender to increase its capacity for wagons and vans with longer roofs. Or go minimalist and use the integrated 9mm QR fork mount for that road bike…

kuat mini skinny vehicle roof top cargo basket tray is narrow enough to allow a standard roof-rack bicycle mount to sit beside it

Full measurements are 60.5″L x 23.875″W x 6.375″H. Add the extender to gain 14″. The front has a built-in fairing to improve aerodynamics and (try to) send love bugs over your cargo instead of smashing into the front of it. They say it retains 50% of the usable cross bar space and comes with locking roof bar mounts. Retail is $295 for the main unit, and $89 for the extender. Pre-orders open now, shipping in September 2017. Capacity is 160lb.

List all of the caliper brake road bikes have anything other than a 9mm.

And dude, in Florida, of all places. What, your QR skewers aren’t providing enough lateral stiffness in those tight, steep descents from 10 ft. above sea level?

So sweet!! I now have room for my kayak. Leave it up to Küat to innovate the industry.

i like the idea of one of these “baskets”, but what really are people putting in them? If you have cross bars on top of your car you can tie pretty much anything to them, but then you wouldn’t look like you belong in Colobrado.

Good question. We use several sizes of North Face base camp duffel bags for camping and travel. They’re pretty tough, water resistant and handy for dividing up gear and supplies. The only downside is they’re somewhat pricey. They have held up much better than cheaper ones though. A pair of mediums would easily fit in this rack, and they could be safely secured as well.

Children. I put my thin children on them. Works a treat!

Rubbermaid has a container that is the same width. I have last years version of this (this rack isn’t new, have made it for a while). I can fit 5 containers plus my bike in it. have put kayak upside down in it a few times also. this rack is great
