Now and then (or more like every single hour) we get press releases that have virtually nothing to do with bicycles. Most go immediately in to the junk folder, we grumble about how lazy the PR firms are that buy stock lists and blanket their crap to everyone, and we move about our day. Once in a while something cool sticks out, and this fully restored, “better than new” Land Rover Defender D110 from Arkonik is just such a thing.

Like the Outside Van custom sprinters we’ve posted, we do love an adventure vehicle. The Boulder edition from Arkonik is one of about 50 different restoration options you can purchase from the UK outfitter. Base restorations start at $100,000 and go up to about $150,000. Or you can commission a fully bespoke build, all starting with either a D90 or D110. One of the options is a roof mounted bike attachment, which is all the excuse we need to share this…

Arkonik reached out to let us know they offer a bike rack mount on their roof tray, but don’t actually have photos of it. Use your imagination, letting the bike mount be the warm up for imagining all the killer trailheads you could get ton in this thing. (Wanna waste more time? They have a custom configurator on their website. See ya in a couple hours.)

You won’t find these pics of a custom badged gravel bike on their Boulder page, but they included them for us. We’ve inquired about the brand and will update. UPDATE: Turns out this bike started life as a Cannondale CAAD X and got a custom paint scheme and build.

My dream car : )

I dearly love my Defender and it’s one of the many reasons I don’t think I can ever move back home to the States. Thankfully, I have a new one (2015) that should last me a really long time.

so, despite the opening paragraph’s excuses, this has nothing to do with bikes? ok, they say they offer a bike rack, but can’t provide a photo. Great, on a custom car that cost more than most houses you can get a bike rack, let me get my checkbook…
