Masi’s paint schemes never disappoint, and this year’s Sea Otter Classic show collection was no different. In the past, a lot of the best ones have been one-off examples that never made it to production. But this year, they had two special editions and this electric blue stunner whose finish almost overshadowed what’s new about the bike.

Their top race bike model is now the Evoluzione Disc, which gets a few tweaks to the frame to accommodate the new stoppers.
It stretches to 415mm chainstays (about 10mm longer than rim brake) to keep the chain line within Shimano’s spec for optimum shifting performance. The frame has 28mm rear tire clearance, 30mm in the front.
Expect to see a paint matched stem and spacers on the bike, which is an uncommon but most welcome touch for a production bike.
Weight for a size 56 is around 860g for the top-level TexTreme version. Add about 110g heavier for the standard carbon model. Final price on this model is TBD.
The rim brake model is getting a special edition metallic silver and gray paint scheme…
…and like in year’s past, they’re working with KMC to get a chain that matches the frame’s rainbow hue.
This limited edition Speciale Giramondo gets a paint scheme that matches the iconic blue enamel camp cups, white specs and all.
Details like the white strips complete the look, and included fenders (but not bags) giveaway the intended use of this bike.
Their new alloy race cyclocross frame comes in about a 1/2 pound lighter than the CXR Expert…and about a 1/2 lb heavier than the carbon bike sitting directly behind it. Claimed frame weight is about 1,400g for size 55.
Unlike the CXR Expert with its fender and rack mounts, the Race model gets no such amenities… it’s meant as a race bike (or a B bike if you’ve already got their carbon one since they share the geometry).
Retail is $700 or just under for the frame and carbon fork. Masi has just launched their direct to dealer purchase program, order online and it’ll ship to your nearest authorized Masi dealer.
