  • The Trek CXC Cup cross race gets called up to become a UCI World Cup in 2017 – Trek will host one of the first rounds of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup series next season on their home cyclocross course. Built just next to their Waterloo, WI headquarters the event that had been the Trek CXC Cup has been selected to join Cross Vegas as the season openers in the US. The inaugural World Cup Waterloo’s elite racing will take place on Sep 24, with a full weekend of events including amateur & pro racing kicking off on Friday. Make your plans now.   • Ride Pelotonia: some of the midwest’s best roads – Registration is now open for the 9th year of the popular weekend event weaving through 180 miles of urban to rural pavement in central Ohio.   • 25th annual Stihl Tour des Trees to benefit tree research – Yes, it is sponsored by a chainsaw company. Who else is more concerned with there being enough trees? Mark your calendars for the urban fundraiser ride (it’ll hit some trails too) through Washington D.C., parts of Northern Virginia, and up to Annapolis, MD.   • Help Fund a Velo Parklet in San Francisco – Long-time cycling advocate Bradley Woehl, owner of the oldest bike shop in San Francisco – American Cyclery at Golden Gate Park, needs help to build a cycling-themed ‘parklet’ to enhance the local neighborhood around the shop, in a boost to make cycling more attractive in the city.   • Madison Saracen bring back Development Team for 2017 – They’re bringing back the Development Team for this year! It’s how Manon Carpenter started out before her rise to the top of the women’s game and the team is back to offer similar opportunities for a small group of talented young mountain bikers.
