Late last year, the Peter Sagan Gran Fondo served as a fundraiser for the American Boys and Girls Club, and a chance for cyclists to ride with one of the heroes of the pro peloton. But it also was the returning point for Osmo nutrition as they announced that they were back in business with co-founder Ben Capron now functioning as the CEO. The other big news was their sponsorship of Peter Sagan who credits part of his success to Osmo’s ability to keep him from cramping.

Now with product shipping from the Osmo site, and retailers getting in product as we speak, Osmo put together a little product overview. The video highlights the three products in a way that only Sagan can…

Apparently, Sagan turns 27 today. Fitting that he’s nearly in his birthday suit!

From Osmo:

Sausalito, CA—January 23, 2017 After a successful re-launch at the Peter Sagan Gran Fondo in October in Westlake Village, California, Osmo Nutrition is now available for purchase direct from their online store, local retailers and other resellers.

Osmo’s sports hydration and recovery products are based on peer-reviewed science to provide performance benefits to athletes. Through repeatable studies, Osmo Active Hydration has been proven to improve cyclists’ power output by an average of 9% compared to other sports drinks.

With peer-reviewed science showing that sub-optimal hydration levels of just two percent can lead to an 11-percent drop in maximal power, the benefits of proper hydration technology can far outweigh the benefits of an aerodynamic frame or wheelset—a point certainly not lost on reigning two-time World Champion Peter Sagan, who as an athlete was plagued by cramping early in his career.

“I started using Osmo in 2013, after the second stage of the (Amgen) Tour of California,” said two-time reigning World Champion Peter Sagan. Stage Two into Palm Springs was really hot, and I cramped, like I cramped the month before at the Amstel Gold Race. I told the team we needed to try Osmo, which I had learned about earlier that year. The whole team drank Osmo PreLoad that night, and then Active Hydration the next day, and I won the stage.

I’ve used Osmo ever since. I used to think that when it was hot, it was unavoidable that I would cramp at the end of a hard race. But that’s not true. With Osmo I am ready for the final—even when it’s hot, like it was at the world championships in Doha this year.”

“It’s surreal, but awesome how things have turned out,” says Ben Capron, Osmo co-founder and CEO. “Osmo was founded to help athletes feel and perform their best. The product and science from Osmo have always supported that. Peter (Sagan) was one athlete we started helping back in 2013, and like many, he’s come to rely on Osmo every time he rides. Peter has relied on Osmo exclusively and, more than anyone, he wanted to see the brand go forward.”

The secret to Osmo’s performance gain is in speed of oral rehydration. Thanks to the body’s sodium-glucose co-transport system, Osmo Active Hydration replaces body-water more than twice as quickly as water alone. Improving the body’s ability to stay hydrated improves circulation, and decreases core temperature, both of which result in more oxygen-carrying blood being delivered to muscles, creating more power.

Osmo is currently available for purchase directly from osmonutrition.com for immediate shipment and will also be available from local retailers within the month.

  1. Any chance for a European distributor? Great product, but the shipping of small orders from the US is just way too expensive.

What do you think?
