The next time you’re out on a ride, you may want to think twice about hopping that fence. Or at least make sure it’s not electric and live. In this case the fence was “only a little bit live” but that didn’t stop this trio of cyclists from having a hell of a time getting the bike untangled from its shocking captivity. Eventually, Mike, Paul, and Al manage to get the bike free, but not without a lot of laughing, and a few choice words…

From Big DT:

Whilst pedaling today my mate Paul went to put his bike over a fence. Half way though he realized that it was electric! So he dropped it on the fence. This is a video of him and my mate Al trying to get it off! Please excuse the swearing and oh yes by the way the clicking sound is the electric pulsing!!

carbon fiber is very conductive. So you mean to say you ride so you can get zapped? 😛

it wasn’t just the metal, it was the water on the tires and the sticks, so carbon fiber would have shocked you, too due to being wet… They could have grounded the wire with those sticks on either side of the bike. sure, some electricity would have traveled up the wet sticks, but significantly less.

I wonder if they could have used a fat innertube to insulate their hands so they could pick up the bike.

Someone could have pedaled to the farmer’s house and asked him/her to shut off the power to the fence for a minute or two.

Way to (deleted) the dude’s fence. He’ll probably hate cyclists forever.
