Swedish design & fabric tech to fill cycling’s fashion Void

Over the last several months from our European office we’ve started to see clothing from Swedish bike brand VOID popping up on our roads. With a fall that seemed to disappear quickly into the generally cold and wet weather that so far has characterized our winter here, it isn’t really that big of a surprise to see a Scandinavian company have an autumn/winter collection up to the task of keeping you on the bike year round. We’re midway through the season but wanted to take a closer look at what they claim to fill cycling’s fashion void with smart designs and functional tech…

Void’s autumn/winter 2016/17 collection was developed to meet the demands that the harsh Scandinavian weather puts on cyclists looking to ride year round. The main core of the cold & wet weather kit are a Softshell Jacket and a pair of Winter Tights that are both windproof, water-resistant, and breathable to keep the elements out no matter the weather. The tights are unpadded, designed so that you can pair them with your favourite bib shorts underneath for reliable comfort and an outer shell layer that doesn’t need to get tossed in the wash after every ride. The jacket gets a close fit so that it doesn’t flap in the wind, a drop tail, tall collar, offset zip, and the option for either bright or dark colors.

Both are available in women and men-specific cuts. And as we’re now half way through the season, they are each currently available with some pretty hefty discounts for remaining stock.

If you are getting fully outfitted for cold weather riding, Void can take care of that too. They do a lot of accessories including a merino beanie, merino buff, and merino socks for the best in cold & wet protection. I personally can’t get enough merino in my fall/winter/spring riding arsenal. But they’ve also got the full suite of standards, like the arm & leg warmers where we first spotted the Void name.

Void Cycling is a fairly young company, founded just back in 2013. They say that each year they’ve tried to grown their catalog as they refine their designs and aim to bring a bit more and more fashion into cycling. While they focus a lot on the performance and look of their line, they tell us they’ve expanded a lot directly to meet demands from their customers for new kit.

And there is plenty more on the way. Void has teased that an all new Spring/Summer 2017 collection is getting its last finishing touches on it now. With more expansion off road to the trail this year, they’ll even have an all-new Enduro line. Void has promised to give us the low down as soon as it available, so keep your eyes peeled later in the winter for 2017 collection updates.

Through that entire website, nobody looks like they’re enjoying anything. Not the clothes. the riding, life. Almost like they’re totally deVOID of happiness.

Hi Jamie,
It does seem like our models aVOID smiling…it is sometimes hard to cheer them up when they realise they have to go out into our harsh west-Swedish climate. But we will try our best for the new SS collection – at least then they have summer to look forward to!

Rapha from Ikea

No…. Everyone likes to think Rapha is the standard. They are for highest prices a lot of companies make better or equally as good stuff. The quality gap is gone.

We don’t expect you to put the clothes together yourself…but that could reduce our costs.
Like myke2241 says, people think Rapha is the standard, but we have different focus areas to Rapha – just look at our Print jerseys 🙂

Site owner might also be using realistic images of real people instead of fake smiles and laughs of fake people!

All our models are real people, something not all Swedish clothing brands use 😉

DeVOID of originality. Most of the lycra companies already make the same products. Quit creating taglines that make it look as if you are clicking onto something new and original. They are bringing the fashion one boring black and burgundy jersey at a time. Wow.

Stop taking fun too seriously and maybe you’ll see that we do offer something different. Our autumn/winter collection may have two colours, but that is one colour more than we usually see cycling in Sweden in the winter…although E.L. James did manage to write a book about it 😉
But we listen to the feedback from our customers, and next year’s A/W collection will have more colour! Oh and our S/S collections always have more colours, keep an eye out for that.

I own a number of Void products including jerseys, bibs, warmers and a jacket. They are all reasonably priced, great quality, with great attention to detail and have become my favorite fall/winter kit. Really looking forward to the spring/summer line.

Thanks for the kind words E. We’re looking forward to the new S/S line as well – we have paid even more attention to the details for that collection and we have some new pieces coming out.

Looks like good stuff, although for me the name Void has a negative connotation.
