We broke the news on XShifter, the universal wireless shifting conversion kit that’ll match wireless shifting to any drivetrain, and they surpassed their Kickstarter funding goal in 48 hours. Now, with just less than two weeks to go, they’ve added a TT bar end shifter option.

The unit mounts to any standard aero bar extension, and inventor Paul Gallagher told us they can also mount to the ends of drop bars. Even better, they can be paired with their other shifters, giving you the ability to shift from multiple hand positions…

The TT shifter system is developed, and if they hit a stretch goal of $150,000, it’ll be offered at launch. They’re just a few grand shy of the first first stretch goal at $100,000, which would give them the modular mounting system that’s much cleaner than the zip tie attachment we’ve seen thus far.

This makes a lot of sense for hand cycles but not much else.

I agree with Mick and Brian — this is a really cool product. I can plug this into my existing TT drivetrain and have wireless electronic shifting. I wouldn’t mind putting this on my tandem or road bike, either. We’ll see how the first set goes.

I’d be in if they can clean this up a little. I’d much prefer regular housing than this but if they can make it smaller and run the cable properly, I’d be willing to buy it.

It’s a great idea though they need to work on a more elegant solution for road bikes. It’s hard to match the ergonomics of a combined brake/shift lever as offered by Campy, Shimano, SRAM, etc.

TRP offers a great Di2 adapter kit for their Hylex brake. It allows you to keep your shifter and your brake as separate items which makes replacement easier/less expensive. Something along those lines would be a good addition.

Also to the “but cable stretch” crowd: (deleted). The cable on this is so short as to make stretch a non-issue (same reason why down tube shifters have crisper shifting than STI)

It’s totally true that the cable is too short for enough stretch to screw things up. Even then, you still have the barrel adjuster.
That said, downtube shifters shifted better 20 years ago, not really anymore.

Make a Rohloff shifter and you will have my money.

The dual should work just fine with Rohloff. One cable to pull towards gear 14, and the other cable to pull towards gear 1.

problem for the Rohloff might be how much cable this thing can actually pull. the Rohloff requires a lot of cable pull. best Rohloff option may be using this with the Gebla Rohbox
