I know what you’re thinking – there was a first annual World Fat Freeride Championship? Yes, there was. And it involved a 2 mile, 3,000 foot vertical descent from Thompson pass in the Chugach mountains near Valdez, Alaska. Apparently, the top speeds from practice were clocked at 44 mph. On a fat bike. Down a snow covered mountain without a real trail. The Chugach Fat Bike Bash also involves a number of fun activities – like jumping a bike into near frozen water.
