Not content with simply one Django, Devinci is giving the bike a new set of wheels. Building on the original’s 27.5″ wheels and 120/130mm travel Split Pivot frame, the new Django is very similar just with 29″ wheels. Now entering the fifth generation of their Split Pivot frames, the 1x specific Django looks like a fun take on a big wheel…

Skewed more towards the trail/all mountain side of things, the Django 29 offers 120mm of rear travel matched to a 130mm fork. Even though both front and back use Boost axle spacing, this is not a 29/+ bike and provides clearance for up to a 2.35″ tire. The asymmetric carbon frames are asymmetric, use internal cable routing, and run tapered head tubes.

All frame sizes offer a 20mm longer top tube and low standover heights, and have the ability to change geometry by 0.5 degrees at the HTA with their new FRG cup (more on that below).

Django carbon 29s will be available in two colors and four builds ranging from the $3809 NX build up to the $6819 SRAM Eagle X01 build. Framesets will be offered for $2479. Devinci will also be selling an aluminum Django 29 in two builds, $3099 for SRAM NX, and $3539 for SRAM GX. The aluminum frame will go for $1769.

Claimed frame weights are listed as:

  • Django 29 carbon 3.06 KG / 6.75 lbs
  • Django 29 aluminum 3.66 KG / 8.07

To go along with the Django, Devinci is introducing the Full Response Geometry cup. The $19.95 lower headset cup adds 10mm to the front end which slackens the head angle by a half degree, and raises the BB by 3.5mm. Note that it only is meant for model year 2013 and up, and will not fit all of the bikes listed above.

The only complaint I have with my Atlas is the utter garbage press fit BB and integrated road bike headset. I dislike very much that Devinci put these cost cutting standards and spun them as improvements and now even Specialized has started to reverted back to the threaded BB for 2017.

Come on Devinci, make a running change to the alloy models like you once would and throw a threaded BB on there and show us your still a company for riders by riders.

My shop has sold dozens of Devincis, all with the same BB and headset standard as your Atlas. Press fit BBs aren’t my first choice, but we haven’t had any unique problems with Devinci BBs. We had 1 issue with a loose fit, and they warrantied it no questions asked (lifetime warranty on even the carbon frames, and they mean it in my experience).

What does the frg cup do to the seat angle? It must slacken it out a touch, no?
